The 27th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival<\/strong><\/a> will take place from March 6 to 16, 2025<\/strong>, showcasing 261 documentaries<\/strong> from around the world. \u0398\u03b5\u03c3\u03c3\u03b1\u03bb\u03bf\u03bd\u03af\u03ba\u03b7<\/a>\u00a0is a city with a strong cinematic identity, hosting two of Greece\u2019s biggest film events: the <\/span>Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TiFF)<\/b> in November and the <\/span>Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (TiDF)<\/b> in March. TiDF returns from March 6 to 16, 2025<\/strong>, bringing a diverse selection of 261 documentaries<\/strong> from around the world to the big screen.<\/span><\/p>

The festival takes place in key locations across the city center<\/strong>, making it easy for visitors to move between screenings. This year\u2019s lineup features a wide range of premieres <\/strong>and thought-provoking <\/strong>films, covering contemporary social issues, democracy, freedom, and tolerance. A special tribute is dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI),<\/strong> exploring its role in today\u2019s world. Alongside AI-focused films, an installation <\/strong>by UCLA professor Lauren Lee McCarthy will be presented at MOMus-Experimental Center for the Arts<\/strong>, while the AI and ART EXPERIENCE masterclass, powered by Telekom, will take place on March 9 <\/strong>at Pavlos Zannas Theater<\/strong>.<\/p>

The festival showcases 38 international documentaries<\/strong> in competition across four sections: International Competition, Newcomers, >>Film Forward, and Immersive: All Around Cinema<\/strong>. It also highlights standout documentaries in Open Horizons, Top Docs, and NextGen<\/strong> sections. The Greek documentary scene is equally strong, with 71 Greek films<\/strong>, including 42 <\/strong>in the international program<\/strong> and 25 available online <\/strong>\u03b1\u03c0\u03cc March 7 <\/strong>to 21<\/strong>. Special screenings will include Mysterious Deaths in Ancient Greece: Olympias.
