The day starts with Panagiotis waiting in Agia Sofia Square<\/strong> around 10:00 am<\/strong>, wearing a big smile and eager to take us on a full journey into Greek food culture<\/strong>. He promises a unique experience with authentic<\/strong> food and stories about Greek cuisine<\/strong>, culture, and the places that have shaped \u0398\u03b5\u03c3\u03c3\u03b1\u03bb\u03bf\u03bd\u03af\u03ba\u03b7<\/strong> over the years.<\/span><\/p>

Of course, we couldn\u2019t start the day without coffee<\/strong>, and nothing beats a refreshing frappe<\/strong>. Panagiotis informs us that the frappe, apart from being a national Greek treasure<\/strong>, is actually a Thessaloniki invention, created unintentionally in 1957. Along with the frappe come two more local delicacies: the famous koulouri Thessalonikis<\/strong> and the queen of pastries, bougatsa<\/strong>. What adds to the experience are the places we visited, but of course, we\u2019re not going to spoil them here.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After enjoying our breakfast, Panagiotis took us on a stroll through local food markets<\/strong> to explore the ingredients<\/strong> that form the base of the famous Greek cuisine<\/strong>. We tried different varieties of olives<\/strong>, smelled fresh herbs<\/strong>, and tasted local delicacies<\/strong> in shops around the city center.<\/span><\/p>

The smell of herbs<\/strong> and the magnificent olives<\/strong> reignited our appetite, and Panagiotis took us to his secret spot to try the famous Greek meze<\/strong> along with some local spirits<\/strong>. While explaining the meze culture, small plates started arriving at our table with a mix of seafood<\/strong>, dairy<\/strong>, and meat<\/strong> dishes. The plates were placed in the middle so we could all share and try everything. Along with the food, we had some retsina<\/strong>, a type of white resinated wine that\u2019s especially popular in Thessaloniki.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With our bellies full, we continued strolling, and this time Panagiotis took us into the city\u2019s main food markets. The atmosphere was vibrant<\/strong>, with a wide variety of local groceries and small shops. As we walked the <\/span>market streets<\/b>, Panagiotis told us about the history of certain products and shared information that even most locals<\/strong> don\u2019t know.<\/span><\/p>

After four hours, we definitely felt wiser in our understanding of <\/span>Greek culture<\/b>, and we had the chance to taste some truly amazing <\/span>food<\/b> and <\/span>delicacies<\/b>. It was time to say goodbye to Panagiotis, but the memory of this incredible tour will stay with us <\/span>forever<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>
