Designed by <strong data-start=\"666\" data-end=\"703\">architect Alexandros Anastasiadis<\/strong>, the tower was envisioned as a bold statement of modern Greece. Standing <strong data-start=\"777\" data-end=\"795\">76 meters high<\/strong>, it was the country\u2019s only telecommunications tower and a showcase of architectural ambition.<\/p><p data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"1243\">The construction was completed in <strong data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"941\">two phases<\/strong>. The first, in <strong data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"965\">1969<\/strong>, included the foundations, basement, and first floor, which debuted as the <strong data-start=\"1041\" data-end=\"1057\">OTE Pavilion<\/strong> during the <strong data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1109\">34th Thessaloniki International Fair<\/strong> that September. The <strong data-start=\"1369\" data-end=\"1405\">first black-and-white broadcasts<\/strong> of the <strong data-start=\"1413\" data-end=\"1442\">Hellenic State Television<\/strong> were transmitted from this very building, marking a milestone moment in communication. Many locals once believed the rotation had stopped after a <strong data-start=\"1880\" data-end=\"1908\">mechanical issue in 1988<\/strong> temporarily halted its movement. But the tower\u2019s rotation was restored, and today it continues to turn smoothly, completing a <strong data-start=\"2035\" data-end=\"2080\">full 360-degree rotation every 60 minutes<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"2085\" data-end=\"2579\">This ingenious mechanism, created by the <strong data-start=\"2126\" data-end=\"2152\">Rohr engineering house<\/strong>, was a technical marvel of its time. As it slowly spins, visitors can take in a breathtaking panoramic view of <strong data-start=\"2264\" data-end=\"2280\">\u0398\u03b5\u03c3\u03c3\u03b1\u03bb\u03bf\u03bd\u03af\u03ba\u03b7<\/strong>. The <strong data-start=\"2286\" data-end=\"2301\">White Tower<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"2307\" data-end=\"2318\">Rotunda<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"2324\" data-end=\"2347\">Eptapyrgio fortress<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"2353\" data-end=\"2378\">Archaeological Museum<\/strong>, and the distant silhouettes of <strong data-start=\"2411\" data-end=\"2428\">Mount Olympus<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2433\" data-end=\"2453\">Mount Chortiatis<\/strong> all come into view. The renewal celebrated the tower\u2019s original futuristic design while bringing it fully into the present day.<\/p><p data-start=\"2936\" data-end=\"3197\">Inside, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyline.bar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Skyline Caf\u00e9-Bar<\/b><\/a>\u00a0continues the story. Located at the top, it welcomes visitors to enjoy a coffee, drink, or meal while slowly gliding above the city. Each visit offers a new perspective and a new appreciation for Thessaloniki\u2019s layered beauty.<\/p><p data-start=\"3240\" data-end=\"3544\">The OTE Tower is more than a building. It is a piece of Thessaloniki\u2019s soul, a bridge between past and future, between engineering and imagination.
