Thessaloniki has its big moments. The festivals, exhibitions and major events that fill the calendar and bring thousands of people into the city every year. But the cultural life of Thessaloniki is not shaped by the big names alone.
On a smaller scale, independent events, creative collectives and local initiatives are constantly finding new ways to use the city and its public spaces. They may not take over the whole of Thessaloniki, but they are an important part of what keeps its cultural scene active, current and interesting.
Kapani Project is one of them.
On 26 and 27 September 2026, Kapani Project returns to the historic centre of Thessaloniki for a particularly special edition. This year marks its 10th anniversary, bringing two days of music, performances, installations and exhibitions to the streets around Athοnos Market, with free entrance for everyone.
And we are especially happy to be part of it once again. halu! returns as the Special Hospitality Sponsor of Kapani Project 2026, continuing a collaboration with an event that celebrates the creative, open and constantly evolving side of Thessaloniki.
For a decade now, Kapani Project has been bringing art out of traditional venues and into the streets of Thessaloniki.
For its 10th anniversary, the festival once again transforms one of the city’s historic markets into a place for music, art and people to meet. Music fills the streets, performances take place around the market and contemporary art appears in different corners of the neighbourhood.
This year, the programme includes two music stages, as well as performances, exhibitions and art installations in different locations around Athonos Market. Visitors will also find street food by The NAS Project throughout the weekend.
It is a festival made for exploring. Walk around the market, move from one stage to another and see what you find along the way.
Music is at the heart of Kapani Project, with the Alternative Stage and Fusion Stage running throughout both days.
The Alternative Stage starts at 17:00 with Haeyadda Live, presented as part of Fringe Festival, followed by Blinky x 3, Pale Penguin & Larry SKG, ENKA and K.atou, who closes the stage at 23:00.
At the Fusion Stage, Saturday’s programme includes Dimi & Sampson, Rhythm Code Inc., Srek & Mitch and Nausicaä.
The night continues after 23:00 at he•art, where Bighi & Irene will be on the decks for the official Kapani Project after party.
On Sunday, the Alternative Stage starts at 17:00 with GHN, followed by Yota & Lefen, Phon and Innassi.
At the Fusion Stage, you can see ELESDJ, Pen., STOZ and pink.wav.
Both stages run from late afternoon until 23:00, so there is plenty of time to move between them and discover different artists.
Kapani Project is not only about music. Performances, exhibitions and installations can be found around Athonos Market throughout the weekend.
On Saturday, Θέατρο ΕΦ with Αρετή Μακρολειβαδίτη presents Στον κύριο Τζέι, while Ομάδα Χορού Β+6 performs Τα σώματα θυμούνται. Simoni will also present a four hour performance from 19:00 until 23:00.
On Sunday, the programme includes Ηρώ Βασάλου with The course of an argument and Selini with ΜΙΚΡΑ ΚΟΜΜΑΤΙΑ ΘΑΛΑΣΣΑΣ, both as part of Fringe Festival. Later, Ιωάννα Χρυσομάλλη presents ECHO LAPSE at 21:00.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can also see an exhibition by Χρήστος Κρανιώτης, together with installations by Μυρτώ Μπάλλα, SOKIN x Freak of Nature, Julia Sossinka, Simoni and Εβελίνα Σπυροπούλου.
This mix of music and art is a big part of the Kapani Project experience. You can listen to a DJ set, walk through the market, find an installation or stop to watch a performance.
The event is spread around the market, giving you a chance to enjoy the programme while exploring this part of Thessaloniki.
