Halkidiki is one of those places that quietly wins you over. With its three peninsulas stretching into the Aegean, it offers a mix of stunning beaches, pine-covered hillsides, and that unmistakable Greek summer atmosphere. Some beaches are well known and loved, while others are more tucked away, waiting to be discovered. In this guide, we’ll take you through a few standout spots that capture the beauty and variety of Halkidiki’s coastline.
Myti Beach is one of the most unique and breathtaking spots in Halkidiki, located at the tip of Poseidi Cape on the first leg, Kassandra. This narrow stretch of sand forms a natural triangle that reaches into the sea, creating a beach with water on both sides. It feels almost otherworldly, with golden sand, endless blue, and the gentle sound of waves surrounding you.
The beach is completely unorganized with no bars, sunbeds, or facilities, which is part of its quiet charm. You’ll need to bring your own shade, water, and anything else you might want for a relaxed day by the sea. In return, you get privacy, space, and one of the most serene views in the region.
To reach Myti Beach, head toward Poseidi village on the western side of Kassandra. From there, follow the signs to Poseidi Cape. The last part of the route is a dirt road, so drive slowly and carefully. You can park nearby and walk the final stretch to the sandbar. The walk is easy and absolutely worth it.
As the day winds down, the real magic of the place begins. The sun sets directly behind Mount Olympus in the distance, painting the sky in warm shades of orange and pink. The mountain’s silhouette glows on the horizon, creating a view that feels both peaceful and powerful. It is the perfect ending to a day at one of Halkidiki’s most unforgettable beaches.
Koutsoupia is our most hidden gem, almost like a private retreat for those in the nearby Stavronikitas vacation community, just a short walk away. Still, it’s accessible by car too, thanks to a dirt road that leads directly to the beach.
This spot is ideal for anyone craving a peaceful escape, far from crowded beach bars and noisy crowds. Surrounded by the lush pine forest of Sani, the setting is calm, natural, and absolutely beautiful.
If you’re up for a bit of adventure, there are walking paths from the beach that connect to both Sani Club and Sani Camping, offering a scenic hike through the forested landscape. Whether you’re coming for a swim or a quiet afternoon in nature, Koutsoupia is the kind of place that invites you to slow down and stay a little longer.
Sithonia, often called the second “leg” of Halkidiki, may be a bit farther from Thessaloniki, but it more than makes up for the distance with untouched nature, turquoise bays, and a slower rhythm that invites you to unwind. Among its many treasures, Diaporos stands out. It’s not a beach in the classic sense, but rather a full-on island escape.
Diaporos is the largest of nine small islands scattered like jewels across the Gulf of Vourvourou. Although uninhabited, it feels alive with natural beauty. Thick pine forests stretch right down to the water’s edge, where they meet calm, clear coves in soft shades of blue and green. The coastline is dotted with quiet spots, some with white sand and others with smooth flat rocks, making it an ideal place to explore by boat or spend a peaceful day by the sea.
Getting to Diaporos is part of the fun. You can rent a small motorboat in Vourvourou without a license and cruise at your own pace around the island and its neighboring islets. Many visitors choose to pack a picnic, anchor in a quiet bay, and spend the whole day hopping from one secluded spot to another. If you prefer a more relaxed option, you can take a water taxi or join a guided boat tour to enjoy the scenery without worrying about directions.
Whether you’re chasing postcard-worthy photos or simply looking for a quiet retreat in nature, Diaporos is a must-visit. It still feels like a hidden gem, even as more travelers begin to discover its charm.
Our second suggestion for Sithonia is Kavourotripes.
Kavourotripes is one of the most iconic beaches in Halkidiki, and it’s easy to see why. Tucked along the eastern coast of Sithonia, this string of small coves is framed by smooth white rocks and shimmering emerald waters. The name means “crab holes” in Greek, inspired by the natural hollows in the rocks that create tucked-away spots perfect for sunbathing.
From the shore, you can look out and see the dramatic outline of Mount Athos on the horizon. The view adds a mystical touch to an already breathtaking setting.
There is a small beach bar nearby, but the beach itself is mostly unorganized. We recommend bringing your own umbrella, water, and snacks if you plan to stay for a while. The shallow, clear waters are great for swimming and snorkeling, and the overall vibe is wild, raw, and incredibly photogenic. Come early to find a quiet spot and experience this slice of paradise before it fills up!
