September Events in Thessaloniki: Festivals, Concerts, and More

September in Thessaloniki is not just another month on the calendar, it is a festival in itself. The air buzzes with anticipation as the historic Thessaloniki International Fair (ΔΕΘ) opens its gates, blending commerce, culture, music and politics. Almost at the same time, Street Mode Festival spills onto the streets with live bands, street art, and urban energy, while Reworks festival carries the city deep into the night with pulsating electronic beats. Together, these events turn September into Thessaloniki’s most vibrant chapter of the year.

89th Thessaloniki International Fair

Every year in September, Thessaloniki unfolds its grandest canvas with exhibitors from Greece and across the globe, along with performances and events for every taste. This year will be no different, as from September 6 to 14 the city welcomes the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair. The city’s biggest and most historical event, the fair celebrates 100 years since the founding of TIF-HELEXPO and continues to shape the cultural identity of Thessaloniki while serving as a key platform for political dialogue in Greece. Visitors can explore themed exhibitions, discover the latest in technology and research, enjoy regional gastronomy, and experience live concerts and cultural events that make the fair much more than an exhibition—it is a true celebration of Thessaloniki’s spirit.

The 89th TIF enriches its program with a series of concerts that celebrate the depth of Greek music and artistry. From the timeless songs of Pyx Lax to the tribute honoring Mikis Theodorakis, and from the performances of Panos Vlahos to the charisma of Sakis Rouvas and more, each evening invites visitors to experience the city’s cultural heartbeat in a unique way.

Street Mode Festival 2025

Launched in 2009 in Thermi, Street Mode Festival has grown from a small gathering of graffiti jams, skate contests, and live performances into one of Greece’s largest celebrations of street culture. Over the years, it has hosted legendary international names like Alpha Blondy, Sugar Hill Gang, Ska-P, New Model Army, and Dubioza Kolektiv, alongside top Greek acts such as Villagers of Ioannina City, Nightstalker, 1000mods, and Hmiskoubria. Today, it is firmly established as a landmark in Thessaloniki’s cultural calendar.

The 13th edition returns on September 12–14, 2025, at the Old Municipal Slaughterhouses (Labattoir), with the support of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. This year’s lineup features headliners including Conway the Machine, Dub FX, Warmduscher, and Snapped Ankles, joined by strong Greek names such as Saske and Nefros tou Moria, promising a weekend full of music, creativity, and urban energy. With two music stages, international and local acts, street art, and action sports, Street Mode once again turns Thessaloniki into the beating heart of street culture.

Beyond the music, the festival comes alive through its side events, from the Merch Bazaar and after parties to street dance battles, BMX contests, and live graffiti sessions. Together, they create an atmosphere where every corner of the festival radiates creativity and community spirit.

Reworks Festival 2025

Since 2005, Reworks Festival has been Greece’s pioneering electronic music festival and one of the most respected in Europe, bridging contemporary sound with broader cultural expression. Over the years, it has hosted more than 1300 artists, from global icons to emerging local talents, becoming a symbol of Thessaloniki’s modern identity and a key meeting point for the international electronic music community.

From September 24 to 28, 2025, Reworks marks its 21st edition with five days of music and seven events spread across the city. The neoclassical charm of Kyvernio (Palataki), the industrial character of Labattoir, the vibrant nights at Block33, and the rooftop of The Met Hotel together shape a journey where every setting becomes part of the festival’s story.

This year’s lineup unites some of the most influential names in electronic music. Ben Klock, Black Coffee, ARTBAT, Adriatique, Ellen Allien, Kittin, and WhoMadeWho return as festival highlights, while Bradley Zero, Estella Boersma, and Carista make their debut appearances in Greece. At the same time, Meera, Philippa Pacho, Victoria, Lil’ Louis, HAAi, Sama’ Abdulhadi, and Vomee perform in Thessaloniki for the very first time, adding fresh energy to the city’s stages. With this mix of long-awaited returns and exciting debuts, Reworks 2025 promises a unique journey through both familiar sounds and groundbreaking discoveries.

More than a festival, Reworks is a celebration of innovation, dialogue, and collective experience, a true testament to Thessaloniki’s place on the global cultural map. For a more detailed presentation of the lineup, as well as information about ticketing and venues, you can check here.

A season full of events

September might just be the liveliest month of the year in Thessaloniki, with something happening every single day for every taste. Beyond the three major festivals we highlighted, the city is buzzing with even more events. In the west, the Moni Lazariston Festival wraps up its season, bringing a diverse mix of plays and concerts. Fans of world music will love the Anopolis Festival, a vibrant journey through the sounds of Greece, the Balkans, and the Eastern Mediterranean, blending tradition with contemporary expression. And to top it all off, September closes on a high note with the Thessaloniki Beer Festival, where craft beer from across Greece flows alongside live concerts from local bands.

With so much energy packed into one month, September is truly the ultimate time to experience Thessaloniki. And the best part is that this is only the beginning, as the coming months promise even more events, which we will be sure to share with you. Until then, see you at the events!
