A special concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikis Theodorakis, one of Greece’s most influential composers. His music became a symbol of freedom, resistance, and cultural identity, leaving a lasting legacy in Greece and beyond.
The event will feature some of Theodorakis’ most iconic orchestral compositions and songs, performed by Kostas Makedonas and Foteini Velesiotou. The arrangements have been curated by a musician who collaborated with Theodorakis for nearly 15 years, ensuring an authentic and powerful musical experience.
Who Was Mikis Theodorakis?
Mikis Theodorakis (1925–2021) was a composer, conductor, and cultural icon, best known for works such as Zorba the Greek, Axion Esti, and his politically inspired compositions. As the composer of the world-famous Zorba’s Dance, he introduced Greek music to a global audience, blending classical and folk elements to create a timeless sound.
